Diego Luna plays the role of Cassian Andor in the show. He is a popular Mexican actor, director, and producer, born on December 29, 1979, in Toluca, Mexico. He was raised in Mexico City, and his father was a set designer. Luna developed an interest in acting at a young age and started his acting career at the age of 7. He made his TV debut with the show El abuelo y yo in 1992, where he played the role of Luis.

He made his film debut with the film Ámbar in 1994. Over the years, he has worked in many Spanish and English films. He gained international popularity with the 2001 film Y Tu Mamá También. Apart from that, he has worked in many popular films like Frida (2002), Open Range (2003), The Terminal (2004), Rudo y Cursi (2008), Elysium (2013), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans (2021), etc.

Diego Luna’s upcoming projects

Diego Luna has a few upcoming projects lined up for release in 2025 and later. Luna is set to reprise his role as Cassian Andor in Season 2 of Andor. It will be released on April 22, 2025. Disney + released the official trailer for Season 2 on YouTube on March 24, 2025. In an interview with IMDb, Luna talked about Andor and said, “Season 2 is a complicated one. In Season 1, we witness a year of the life of Cassian, now it's going to be four years. In the last four years just before Rogue One starts, a lot is going to happen. There’s like five different planets, so many characters.”

On February 13, 2025, Variety reported that Diego Luna will direct, co-produce, and cowrite the upcoming film Ceniza en la boca (A Mouthful of Ash). The film is based on the novel by the same name written by Brenda Navarro. The story revolves around Lucila, a 21 year old girl, who travels to Spain with her brother to reunite with their mother after 8 years.

In an interview with Variety, Luna talked about the film and said, “It has never been more relevant to talk about migration. I am very excited to be able to tell this story. We have been working for three years to reach this moment, and I feel very fortunate to collaborate with this team — diverse and enriching voices who are here for the right reasons.”
