His father, Peter Doohan, was an Australian professional tennis player. He started his acting career with the short film Lost Pursuit in 2012. He got his breakthrough role as the younger version of Warren Cave in the Apple TV+ show Truth Be Told in 2019.

In 2020, Hunter was cast in the main role of Adam Desiato in the TV show Your Honor. In 2022, he gained worldwide popularity from his role as Tyler Galpin in Wednesday in 2022. He is part of the main cast and will be reprising his role in the 2nd season of the show. He had anger issues in the past, as he assaulted Xavier and was court-ordered to attend therapy. Wednesday got to know about this through Xavier. After some time, they went on a date together as they developed feelings for each other and ended up kissing. His father was against his and Wednesday’s relationship as she was an outcast.

At first, everyone thought that Tyler didn’t have any powers as he was a normie. He was brainwashed and manipulated by Marilyn Thornhill, and because of her, his subconscious as a Hyde gained more control over his body than he had over himself. Wednesday got to know about his Hyde identity while investigating the murder mysteries in the town. Under the command of his master Marilyn, Tyler turns into a hyde and goes on to kill Wednesday. But she was saved by a newly transformed werewolf, Enid. At the end of the season, Tyler is seen chained to a chair in a vehicle heading to a psychiatric hospital.
