At A Glance

Norma Connolly, who performed in more than 500 live and filmed television shows and in feature films, considered herself "fortunate to have been in three American classics in the theater." These were Streetcar Named Desire, on Broadway and on tour with Anthony Quinn; Night of the Iguana, and The Crucible, both at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theater.

Her numerous other theatrical credits include Broadway productions of Love of Four Colonels, Make a Million, and The Right Honorable Gentleman at the Huntington Hartford Theater in Los Angeles. Among her motion picture credits are The Wrong Man, The Other and They Only Kill Their Masters.

Connolly, the daughter of Beulah and Archie Connolly, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where her father owned a lumber business. She studied acting with Morris Carnovsky at the Leland Powers School of Drama, with both Harold Clurman and Stella Adler at Actors Studio, and at the Cushing Academy.

Connolly, the mother of three grown children and the grandmother of two, said, "The delight of my old age is spoiling them rotten." A member of the Board of Directors for both AFTRA and the Screen Actors Guild, she served as Chairman of the Guild's Women's Conference Committee and on its Morals Committee and Negotiating Committee. An avid reader and gourmet cook, she also enjoyed swimming a mile each day.
