Born in Los Angeles, Kent King was discovered when she was a child, tagging along with her mother, a former actress who spent many years behind the nurses' station on General Hospital. It wasn't long before Ms. King landed a guest spot on the ground-breaking series Hill Street Blues, which then led to a five-year run on the popular primetime drama Knots Landing, as Julie Williams.
Ms. King was inspired by the likes of Dorothy Dandridge and Marilyn Monroe, and set forth to further her education. She later earned a degree in Cinema-Television from the University of Southern California (USC).
Ms. King has made many television appearances, including guest spots on All Of Us, The Jamie Foxx Show, The Wayans Bros., and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air. In 2000 she filled in for Victoria Rowell on The Young And The Restless, and in 2003, she played the role of Imani in the ABC daytime drama Port Charles. Ms. King has also appeared in music videos for R&B singer Glenn Lewis and R&B group Jagged Edge.
The talented actress has an impressive list of film credits that includes The Hillside Strangler (2004), BraceFace Brandi (2002), Love and a Bullet (2002), and The Wash (2001). In addition, she made her directing debut with the film Manolias Funeral, which won the Black American Cinema Society Award for Best Short Film.
Ms. King currently resides in the Los Angeles area with her two cats and a dog. In her free time she enjoys reading and practicing Bojuka, a form of self defense.
