What happened during the week of August 27, 2012

Rick persuaded Othello to lie to Hope and tell her that Steffy and Liam had been all over each other at the club the night before Liam and Hope were supposed to be married. Rick also pushed Thomas to take care of Hope. While Thomas was busy with Hope, Rick pursued Caroline, but Caroline showed no interest. Taylor encouraged Steffy to pursue Liam because his relationship with Hope was over, but Steffy said that Liam had told her that he loved Hope and wanted a life with her. Hope told Liam that they were done. Liam turned to Steffy and found her at the beach, where Liam and Steffy spent another day together. Liam and Steffy returned to Liam's. Steffy asked Liam to move in with her. Hope showed up with Thomas to move Hope's things. Liam claimed he didn't understand why she had ended their relationship. Hope explained that she was tired of Liam loving two women. She told him to move on with Steffy because she was sick of him turning to Steffy every time they hit a rough patch. Thomas thought about a relationship with Hope. Liam spent some time alone.

What happened during the week of August 27, 2012

Maggie and Julie were at odds about what Melanie's role should be in Nick's release. Maggie defended Melanie after Julie asked her not to stand in Nick's way. Nicole and Rafe talked about her baby and the future. Rafe and Sami reflected on their past feelings for each other. Sami and Nicole had words, but Rafe stepped in before things got out of hand. Chad told Daniel that he was concerned over Melanie's emotional state. Hope met with Nick in jail and told him about Melanie's recent kidnapping. Nick told Hope that he might consider changing his mind about his parole hearing because he did not want to cause Melanie any more pain. Lucas told Sami that they were through. Nicole finally told Daniel how she felt about him, but she was surprised at his reaction. E.J. got out of jail and searched for Sami. E.J. bumped into Nicole and told her that he would find out the truth about the baby, but before he could pursue the discussion, Rafe arrived in time to support Nicole. Kayla told Jennifer that she and Steve had filed for divorce. Will told E.J. that he quit his job. Will and Sonny continued to avoid each other even though what they wanted was to be together. Marlena talked to Nick about what parole would mean for his future. E.J. told Sami that he wanted a relationship with her, but she told him that it would never work out. Sami decided that her children were the most important thing in her life, and she told E.J. that she needed to spend more quality time with them. Melanie had a nightmare about Nick, but Brady was there to comfort her. Abigail told Chad that she did not want to take sides between Nick and Melanie. Melanie told Chad and Brady that she had mixed feelings about what to do regarding Nick's parole, but that she had to make her own decision. Nick's mother and Hope visited him in jail and convinced Nick to ask the parole board for his release. Victor told Maggie that he refused to allow Nicole to move into the house, even for Daniel. Jennifer offered to invite Nicole to live with her if it would prevent Maggie and Victor from being at odds.

Jerry warned the citizens of Port Charles that a deadly pathogen had been put in their tap water. The FBI appointed John McBain as their representative during the crisis in Port Charles. Mayor Lomax decided to put John in charge, since Anna was out of town. Jerry agreed to provide the antidote in exchange for $88,111,000.00. Jax and Sam realized that the amount of money was a clue. Todd paid Jerry a visit in jail. A man bearing an uncanny resemblance to Duke Lavery appeared at the clinic in Lucerne, Switzerland, where Anna had tracked Robin. Luke confessed that he had lied to Robert about Ethan's paternity. Anna insisted that Luke find Robert to tell Robert the truth. Ewen panicked when Elizabeth began to question him about a possible connection to Jerry. Ewen knocked out Patrick and then kidnapped Elizabeth. Ewen confessed that he had murdered John Jacks because John Jacks had stolen the Dead Man's Hand from Ewen's father. Joe secretly gave Tracy the antidote to the pathogen. Kate exchanged words with Joe. Joe hinted to Sonny that Kate's son was alive. Trey and Kristina eloped in Las Vegas. Michael and Starr were too late to stop the wedding. Carly and Todd were grateful that Michael and Starr hadn't been exposed to the deadly pathogen. Molly and T.J. each wrote a bucket list of things that they would like to experience before they died. Shawn kissed Alexis.

Phyllis confided in Ronan about Tim blackmailing her and his dying in her living room. Ronan learned that Kevin had helped her move the body and stash the incriminating rug. Ronan covered for both of them with Michael. Beth identified Kevin as the "encyclopedia salesman," but Kevin lied to his brother and Chloe about being involved with Tim. Chloe warned Kevin to be honest with her. Billy got Kevin to pull up text messages from Tucker's phone and found a lead to a dive bar in L.A. Daniel and Heather escalated their romance, and he urged to get rid of Ricky's things. Heather decided to keep Ricky's Niagara Falls snow globe. Avery and Paul met Ricky's friend, Bryce, who revealed that Ricky had killed Rachel and kept the recording of the murder. After an encounter with a Samantha look-alike, Lily found a "Claude Shirl" business card. Lily overruled Cane and asked Ronan to investigate who Cane and Genevieve's stalker was. Tucker informed Sofia of his plan to use Sharon to take over Newman. Tucker set up Sharon to be eviscerated by a newspaper reporter. Sharon fired Nick when he questioned if she was responsible for Victor's disappearance. Abby decided to buy up all available Newman stock to undercut Sharon's power. Nick and Victoria called a secret board meeting and then confronted Sharon, asking her to step down. Tucker subtly supported Sharon, and she refused to resign as CEO. Nikki returned from her search of Victor's sanctuaries. Jack, who was disappointed about his doctor's prediction that he'd never fully recover, turned on Nikki and said that their marriage was over. Victor was grateful to Sister Celeste for her help. Genevieve followed a lead to the L.A. bar and found Victor. She noticed him grabbing his chest and helped him. He introduced himself as "Christian" and didn't recognize Genevieve. Kyle moved back in with Jack and told his father about Sharon's bizarre behavior, like swiping Kyle's driver's license. In private, Sharon looked at her box of stolen stuff. Phyllis stonewalled when Michael demanded the truth, forcing him to call a judge for a court order. Sharon kissed Tucker passionately.
