Krista and Jeff Stone are Emma Stone’s parents. She was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, by her father Jeff, who is the founder and CEO of a general contracting company, and her mother Krista, who is a housewife. She also has a brother named Spencer, who was born in 1990, two years after she was born. She has a close relationship with her parents and they have always been supportive of her career. Her parents have attended many events with her.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2011, Stone called her parents the coolest parents in the world. She said, “My dad’s whole philosophy, my mom’s too, is start with the reins out, and if you do something that should break the trust, then the reins come in — instead of starting the reins in and letting them out — which is awful because it turned me into Pinocchio.” In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she shared that she made a PowerPoint presentation to convince her parents to let her pursue acting.

Her mother moved to Los Angeles with her when she signed with an agency to start her acting career. When Stone won best actress for her role in Poor Things at the 2024 BAFTA Awards, she thanked her mother in her acceptance speech and said, “In case I don't ever get a chance to again, I really want to thank my mom because she’s the best person I know in the world and she inspires me every single day and she’s always made me believe this kind of crazy idea that I could do something like this and I’m beyond grateful.” She added, “Without her none of this exists, including my life, so thanks for that too, mom. Thank you so much."
