No, Vecna is not dead as of Stranger Things Season 4.


Stranger Things has become a television phenomenon and is exclusively available on the streaming platform Netflix. Having 4 seasons on the platform, the plot for this horror thriller is set in the 1980s era in the fictional town of Hawkins. Mike, Will, Lucas, and Dustin are the main characters whose lives change when Will mysteriously disappears. They meet up with Eleven who is on the run from secret government agencies who are responsible for holding unsanctioned secret experiments on humans.


As the story goes on, Eleven and the other main characters figure out that she is the key to reaching the Upside Down and connecting to Will. Through the 4 seasons created by the Duffer Brothers, it is revealed that the mysterious happenings in Hawkins are a result of Vecna, a mysterious entity of the Upside Down.


Does Vecna die in Stranger Things?


As of the 4th season of Stranger Things, the character of Vecna has not died. Season 4 reveals the backstory of the character, showing how Henry Creel became the main antagonist of the series. During the final battle in Season 4, Vecna was lured in by the group to target Max Mayfield so that Steve, Nancy, and Robin could head into the main house and try to finish off Vecna for good. As the story progresses, Vecna manages to capture all 3 members of the party in the house using vines and get a hold of Max to kill her.


Just before Vecna can end Max, Eleven enters the battle and pushes Vecna out of the area. With Eleven’s telekinetic self now battling the telekinetic self of Vecna, Steve, Nancy, and Robin break free of the Vines and move into the room with Vecna’s physical body connected to the hive mind using the vines. Steve throws the first Molotov cocktail on him to burn free of the vine, followed by Robin throwing the second Molotov. As Vecna stood up, laced in flames, Nancy shot him out of the balcony using her Shotgun. While being injured, Vecna still managed to escape from the scene setting up the stage for his return in the final season of Stranger Things.

Who plays the role of Vecna in Stranger Things?


The character of Vecna is played by English actor and singer James Metcalfe Campbell Bower, known as Jamie Bower. Born on November 22, 1988, the actor made his debut as Anthony Hope in the movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. The actor made a name for himself with prominent roles in movies like The Twilight Saga and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 among others.


James Bower also appeared in television fantasy series like Camelot (2011) and Will (2017). The actor is the recipient of the National Movie Awards and has received various other nominations like the Teen Choice Awards, Critics' Choice Super Awards, and 2 MTV Movie & TV Awards.
