His link acted like a ‘sixth sense’ for him as he could sense when the Mind Flayer or its force was nearby. He cannot control these sensations and it affects him mentally and physically.

In the 3rd season, Will possesses his sixth sense abilities even after getting free from the hold of the Mind Flayer. He gets goosebumps whenever someone from the Upside Down is nearby. Unlike Eleven, he doesn’t have controlled powers but he helps his friends by warning them about the supernatural threats. His friends depend on his sensations of the Upside Down.

In the 4th season, it is established that Will has a deeper connection with the Upside Down. Although the extent of Will’s power is not disclosed yet in the show, his sixth sense has become stronger than before.

For the final season, viewers have been predicting that there will be more to Will than just having the sixth sense, as season 4 showed his deeper bond with the Upside Down that can be further explored in the final season. According to the fan theories about Will, his ability to sense Vecna can be used against him and Vecna can use him to regain his human form. According to the Duffer brothers' statement, season 5 will dig deeper at the origin of the Upside Down. Fans must wait to see what will transpire in the final season.

Who is Will Byers in Stranger Things?

Will Byers, played by the actor Noah Schnapp, was shown as a reserved and artistic boy in the 1st season who loved to play the game of Dungeons & Dragons with his friends. He lives in Hawkins with his family, and his life takes a drastic turn when he gets abducted into the Upside Down by a monster. He was riding his bicycle home when he disappeared. His kidnapping exposed his friends and family to the terrors of supernatural powers of creatures from the Upside Down.

Throughout the show, he faces paranormal experiences such as getting possessed by the Mind Flayer and surviving against monsters like the Demogorgon. After his possession, he gained the ability to sense threats. These traumatic experiences made it hard for him to get back to his daily life. Will felt alienated from his friend group as they were maturing and on the other hand, he wanted to live his childhood.
