The rehearsal dinner takes place in this episode, and Ross's parents get angry because of the wedding bill that Emily’s parents gave them to pay. Chandler is already irritated from the sightseeing he did with Joey, and his speech doesn’t go well at the dinner. Nobody in the room laughed at his speech or found it funny because they didn’t get the references to his jokes. He felt embarrassed because of his speech and became uncomfortable talking to people at the wedding.


Monica comes to console Chandler when a drunk guest at the wedding mistakes her for Ross’s mother, which upsets her. They console each other with alcohol, and one thing leads to another; they end up sleeping with each other. Both of them feel awkward and decide to not tell anyone about this.
