His character was introduced in season 7, episode 10, where he came in as a patient suffering from a rare disease called Von Hippel-Lindau. This rare genetic disease causes tumors to develop throughout the body. Lacking proper health insurance, he was unable to receive treatment, which made Teddy sympathetic toward him and motivated her to help him.


The whole situation led to a marriage of convenience so Henry could use Teddy’s health insurance for his treatment. The relationship, which started as a practical arrangement, quickly turned into a close friendship. They shared a special bond, making it even more heartbreaking for audiences to bid farewell to Henry.


In season 8, episode 10, Henry was diagnosed with a tumor near his heart, which required immediate surgery. Dr. Cristina Yang tried her best but couldn’t save Henry; he died on the operating table due to severe complications. Teddy didn’t receive the news of Henry’s death immediately, as she was busy with other cases. When she did learn of his death, she was devastated. Their story took a tragic turn; Teddy was shattered and even the viewers were heartbroken.

Scott Foley who played Henry Burton in Grey’s Anatomy is an American actor, producer, and director. Foley didn’t exactly leave Grey’s Anatomy as his character was supposed to be a guest role. Henry died after 15 episodes as it was part of the writers' script and was never intended to go beyond that.
