Andy was introduced in Season 3 as a salesperson at Dunder Mifflin’s Stamford branch before moving to Scranton after a company merger. At first, he was competitive and desperate to win the favor of his boss, Michael Scott. However, he had anger issues which often led to outbursts, including the iconic moment when he punches a hole in the wall out of frustration. Besides work, he was a talented singer and musician who loved a cappella music.

In Season 8, after Michael Scott left Dunder Mifflin, Andy became the next regional manager. Unlike Michael, he didn’t have a strong relationship with his employees. His time as manager is filled with awkward leadership attempts, impulsive decisions, and personal problems that affect his work.

He also had many ups and downs in his dating life. In Season 4, he started dating Angela from the accounting department. They got engaged in Season 5, but soon their relationship ended as she was cheating on him with Dwight, and he was just a rebound for her. After that, he was in an on and off relationship with receptionist Erin Hannon. His lack of commitment led to ups and downs in their relationship. When he went away on a long boat trip, the distance between them increased and it led to their breakup.

In the end, Andy decided to follow his dreams and went to a singing competition audition, but it turned into an embarrassing moment for him. However, he became popular because of his embarrassing audition video. He ended up having a job at Cornell University's Admissions Office.

Who plays Andy in The Office?

Edward Parker Helms, also known as Ed Helms, plays Andy in the show. He is a popular American actor and comedian, born on January 24, 1974, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. He graduated from Oberlin College with a Bachelor’s degree in film theory and technology. He initially pursued a career in comedy by doing stand-up and improv before gaining popularity as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (2002–2006).

He gained international popularity and became a household name for his role as Andy Bernard in The Office (2006–2013). Apart from The Office, he has worked in many TV shows like Childrens Hospital (2008-2010), The Mindy Project (2012), BoJack Horseman (2015-2020), Rutherford Falls (2021-2022), Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock (2022), etc. He made his film debut with the film Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story (2004).

He got his breakthrough in Hollywood as Stu Price in The Hangover (2009). The film was successful at the box office and led to 2 sequels.
