Dean is the brother of Sam Winchester, portrayed by Jared Padalecki. Their parents are Mary Winchester and John Winchester, played by Samantha Smith and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, respectively. Dean Winchester’s background in Supernatural

Dean was born on January 24, 1979, to John and Mary Winchester in Lawrence, Kansas. He is the first child of the pair and four years older than Sam, his younger brother. When the demon Azazel killed Mary in Sam's crib on November 2, 1983, Dean was assigned to take Sam out of the resulting fire while John made a futile attempt to save Mary. Dean has felt accountable for Sam ever since, and he was always tasked with looking after him as they grew older. As John started looking into Mary's death, he discovered information about supernatural beings and their hunters.

Both John and Dean concealed the supernatural from Sam until he was eight years old, but John became a hunter himself and taught Dean to be one as well. Living in motels and John's friends' houses, the Winchesters were always on the move across the nation. John was never around while they were kids, so Dean was left to take care of Sam. After being arrested for shoplifting when he was sixteen, Dean lived in a boys' home for a while, where he was given the chance to attend a regular school, but he ultimately decided to go back to Sam.

Sam departed to live his own life away from the supernatural before the series' pilot. John held resentment at Sam because he believed Sam had deserted them, and Sam held resentment towards John because of the heated dispute before Sam left. Hunting together, John and Dean resumed their journey across the United States.

Dean has a reputation for managing an extensive amount of weaponry. His go-to outfits are dark leather jackets, dark flannel shirts, dark blue jeans, and black boots. He is also well-known for having an extensive collection of weapons in the trunk of his iconic black 1967 Chevrolet Impala, which he occasionally sleeps in.
