Who is George in Modern Family?

As mentioned above, George aka George Marshall is the biological child of Haley and Dylan Marshall and is one of the twins in their family. George has a twin sister who goes by the name of Poppy Marshall.

George and Poppy’s births on the show are among the most memorable moments on the show. Haley gave birth to George and Poppy in the episode titled “A Year of Birthdays” which is the 22nd episode of Modern Family season 10. In the episode we see all the family members - Jay, Phil, Claire, Mitchell, Gloria, Cameron, Alex, Manny, Luke, and Lily talking about how they had celebrated their birthdays. We then jump to the present right before Haley’s water breaks when Phil is about to play the piano in front of a live audience. Seeing that the family had to leave in a hurry, Phil dropped an amazing but accelerated performance just to teach an arrogant kid a lesson. Later, the family reaches the hospital where the twins were born.

Why did Haley and Dylan name their son George?

It was during the premiere of season 11 of Modern Family, with the episode titled “New Kids on the Block”, where it was revealed that Haley and Dylan had named their kids George and Poppy. The girl's name was kept as Poppy because Haley loves poppy seeds, while the boy was named George by Dylan because they found him looking quite curious during his delivery, like Boy George, the famous musician. In season 10’s finale when asked about the names, it was Claire who had stopped Haley from making any decisions under the influence of drugs, fearing that her grandkids would be named Pixar and Coachella.
