After a tumultuous relationship with Brady Black, Theresa Donovan found out that she was pregnant in the fall of 2014. Thrilled that she found a way to keep Brady around, Theresa told her friend Anne about the pregnancy. But Brady's ex-fiancé Kristen DiMera overheard the conversations and put a plan into motion to steal Theresa's embryo and give birth to the baby herself. In November 2014, Kristen left town, pregnant with Brady and Theresa's baby. Theresa insisted that she was pregnant. But since the tests came back negative, no one believed her.
The baby was born premature in early 2015. Kristen named him Christopher. He had SCIDs -- an immune disorder that required a bone marrow transplant. Knowing that a biological relative was the best chance of a match, Kristen sent one of her hitmen, Clint, to Salem to steal blood from Brady and Theresa. Clint posed as Theresa's boyfriend and took her blood one night when she was passed out. Melanie caught Clint leaving Theresa's house with the blood and immediately became suspicious. She also heard him on the phone with someone named "Dr. Mandrake."
Melanie convinced Nicole to help her investigate Clint and Mandrake. Nicole uncovered that Mandrake was a fertility specialist, who was probably on the DiMera payroll. Melanie put the pieces together that Theresa's pregnancy wasn't so fake after all. She told Brady and the two of them went to Italy to track down Kristen. But shortly after they arrived at Kristen's castle, she had them tied up and thrown in the dungeon.
Meanwhile, Kristen learned that Theresa was a match to the baby, so she dispatched Clint to bring Theresa to Italy. Theresa arrived shortly after Brady and Melanie. Dr. Mandrake took her to prepare her for the transplant. But, she was able to overpower him and stab him with the syringe. Melanie and Brady were able to break free from their restraints and ran to see if Theresa was okay.
At the same time, through a series of misunderstandings, Marlena arrived at Kristen's castle too. Kristen pulled a gun on Marlena. The two struggled over the gun and Kristen ended up falling out of the window. With Kristen gone and her men neutralized, Theresa and Brady headed home with their son. The named him Tate and he received a successful bone marrow transplant from Theresa.
