Brianne was raised by a single mother. She is the oldest of 5 siblings. Colleen Braun, Brianne's mother, balanced a demanding career with raising 5 children. Her dedication to her family and profession left a lasting impression on Brianne, who has often talked about her mother as a source of inspiration. According to the LA Times, Colleen co-founded Condol International in her mid-20s, leading her to consult and travel extensively across the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand. Later, she founded Novydia, directing software projects for major corporations like The Walt Disney Company.

Colleen passed away on January 5, 2011, at the age of 43, due to complications from pneumonia while undergoing cancer treatment. Brianne has often spoken about the influence her mother had on her life and career. In an interview with BYRDIE, she talked about the reason she said yes to the role of Georgia in Ginny and Georgia. She said, “There’s a lot of my mom in Georgia. I grew up with a super young single mom. She had me at 21, so we had a similar relationship. She wasn’t stealing money from my school or anything like that [laughs]. But Georgia is a survivalist. And that’s something I relate to and something my mom related to.”

Growing up in a large family, Brianne developed a strong sense of responsibility and leadership qualities. As the eldest sibling, she took care, provided guidance, and support to her younger brothers and sisters. In an interview with The Wrap, she said, “I have four younger siblings who I would die for. I’m the oldest of five. It’s obviously not exactly the same. My mom would always tell me, "You’ll never know how much I love you until you have a child of your own.” Of course, there’s a level of that I won’t be able to relate to until I have a child of my own, but for now, Antonia feels like another sibling to me. And I have a really large age gap with my siblings. It’s everywhere from five years to 17 years.”
