Stranger Things is set in Hawkins in the 80s where people start experiencing strange things happening throughout the city. A group of friends - Eleven, Max, Lucas, Will, Dustin, and Mike come together to unravel the mysteries of an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down from where these mysterious threats are appearing. As the story progresses, the group confronts the evil Vecna who was sent to the alternate dimension by Eleven in the past and is now out for revenge against the entire world.

In the series, Jonathan Byers, brother to Will Byers, has not died and will be back in the 5th and final season of the show. The character of Jonathan was introduced as one of the main characters back in season one. Jonathan was seen as a smart, introverted, asocial kind of guy who was quite independent and polite. Initially, Jonathan was seen to have strong feelings for Nancy Wheeler who at the time was in a relationship with Steve Harrington.


Jonathan was known to care for his brother Will more than anything. The character was heartbroken when his brother was abducted and brought to the Upside Down world. While earlier Jonathan did not believe such a world existed and had believed that he had lost his brother for good, after looking at the Demogorgon with his own eyes he wasted no time in putting his all to help get his brother back. As the events of the show follow, Jonathan and Nancy get into a relationship after the latter broke up with Steve Harrington.

The role of Jonathan Buyers is played by American actor Charlie Heaton who has worked on various movies and television series. The actor made a name for himself in Stranger Things as Jonathan and has also been seen in other projects like As You Are (2016), The New Mutants (2020), No Future (2021), and The Souvenir Part II (2021).

Born on 6 February 1994, Charlie is known to have attended no acting lessons or courses before bagging his first role. Before becoming an actor, Charlie was quite interested in pop, being a part of the band Comanechi as the drummer. In his career as a rock artist, the actor was seen as a part of the London-based psychedelic band Half Loon. Talking about his personal life, Charlie is in a relationship with his onscreen partner Natalia Dyer who plays the role of Nancy Wheeler.
