Yes, there is season 2 of the show. HBO officially renewed The Last of Us for a 2nd season shortly after the 1st season was released. It is set to release on April 13, 2025 and will continue the story from where Season 1 left off. The 2nd season will be based on the video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which takes place five years after the events of the 1st game. The story will follow Ellie as she takes revenge against a new group of survivors. This season will introduce new characters and expand the world of the show even further. One of the most important new characters will be Abby, who is a fighter with a personal mission of her own.

The creators of the show, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, have promised that the 2nd season will be even bigger and more emotional than the 1st season. In an interview with Empire, Craig Mazin said, “All I’ll say is that for the people who want to see more of the infected... Buckle up!” Neil Druckmann added, “You get to see a different evolution of this infection. It’s kept certain parts of their brain alive, so they are smarter. They coordinate and hide and do things that we’ve never seen any other infected do on this show.”

In an interview with Empire, Pedro Pascal also talked about the upcoming season. He said, “It’s definitely a bigger, far more ambitious and risk-taking season. And, if it can even be imagined, further tests our strength against a world we’re already afraid to be in.”
