Wednesday is an American comedy horror television series centered on the character of Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family. It was made by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and Tim Burton for Netflix. Jenna Ortega plays the lead role, while Fred Armisen, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Isaac Ordonez play additional roles.

In the show, Wednesday Addams is a pupil at Nevermore Academy. She tries to triumph over her developing psychic ability, stop a terrible murderous rampage, and solve a paranormal mystery from her parents' history. All the while, she developed close relationships with Enid Sinclair and Eugene Ottinger, two of her fellow Nevermore classmates.

Season 2 of the series got delayed due to labor strikes in America. The first to strike was the Writers Guild of America (WGA), which started a work stoppage on May 2, 2023. The WGA tied for the second-longest strike in the union's history on September 27, 2023, when they finally agreed to a contract.

The cause for Wednesday season 2's delay

Wednesday Season 2 is off the service's fall schedule and will air no earlier than 2025 due to post-production being an extended procedure given the show's heavy use of special effects and shooting being postponed from its original schedule to April 2024. There are several reasons why Wednesday Season 2 has been delayed, however the majority are due to necessity or circumstances beyond the production's control. As of January 2025, the production of the second season of the series has officially wrapped up. The series was filmed in Ireland.

In 2023, the writer's union and the actor's union both experienced significant labor strikes in Hollywood. The larger profit share for content producers and the impending problem of fair payment in light of artificial intelligence's widespread use in the media and other sectors were at stake.

Despite waiting until July 14, 2023, to go on strike, the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) took a few more weeks to come to an agreement, which they signed on November 9, 2023. Many film and television productions in the industry experienced a six-month delay as a result of the WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes, but the settlements were necessary and hard-won to defend workers' labor rights.
