Mel refused to believe Munk's claim that Dorian had bought the gun from him. Mel chased Munk out into the street, where he was hit by a car and was killed. Kelly admitted to Sykes what Munk had told them about Dorian.

Sykes later accused Congressman Graham of setting Dorian and R.J. up in order to protect Barbara. Dorian tried to make a deal with Barbara by offering her another chance with Kevin if Barbara got her father to back off. Barbara took off when R.J. showed up and accused Dorian of setting him up. Dorian insisted that Graham was framing them. Mel found Dorian at the gallery and warned her that the police were after her and R.J., and the pair escaped. Dorian and R.J. wound up at Andrew's, seeking refuge.

At the hospital, Cassie worried about her condition, but a visit from Andrew and River cheered her. Kevin and Kelly arrived and told Cassie about the trouble that Dorian was in.

Meanwhile, Bo was lost in a storm at sea and grew sicker. Nora finally got through to Bo via a CB radio, but the radio soon went dead. Drew appeared to Bo in his delirium and urged his father to let him go. Bo got through to Nora and told her that he didn't think he could make it back to land. In desperation, Nora told Bo that he had to get back because she was pregnant.

At Max's house, Max told Blair he'd been very happy when he'd seen the story because he realized that she really loved him. He had his hands all over her. Blair was clearly distracted and told Max she had to go because she wanted to be in court early. "To see your ex's triumph?" Max asked. "No, I'm not worried about Todd," Blair answered. Max told her he had been talking about Sam. Max told her to forget about Sam; he was a temporary glitch. He, Max, was her future.

At Club Indigo, Sam asked Will if there were any messages. Will told him no and asked him where Blair was. Sam said he didn't think she'd be there. Will asked him what had happened, and Sam replied that he thought maybe he had just been too hard on Blair. Will said that Blair had just been doing her job and giving it her all, just like Sam did for his clients.

Sam asked Will when he'd gotten to be such a good father. Will said he'd had a good teacher. Will told him to go find Blair and apologize. Cristian asked Jessica if she wanted something to eat, and she told him her stomach was still upset. Just then, Téa and Todd entered, and everyone yelled, "Surprise."

Nora was on the radio, trying to reach Bo. She was telling him to return home because she was pregnant and needed him to be with her. She was not raising the baby alone. He had to return home. Bo managed to pick up the radio and told Nora he was on his way home to her. He was clearly ill.

At Club Indigo, Téa explained that since Rod/Todd had missed out on so many birthdays, it was kind of an "unbirthday" party for him. He was very surprised and pleased. Sam gave him a gift of a football with the word "Coach" on it with a card that read, "Let's win this one for the Boomer." Todd was clearly moved by it.

Viki gave Todd a gift that she had gotten in China. Todd said he'd hang it on the wall of his jail cell and walked away. Viki asked Téa if they really had a chance at the trial, and Téa said that as long as the jury believed Todd had DID then they might have a chance, but it wouldn't be easy. Sam left the party.

Max was rubbing Blair's neck and telling her she had to relax. He asked what he could do to help her. Just hold her, she said. Max gladly did that and told her she'd never have to be alone again.

Bo told Nora that whatever it took, he'd return home to her then the radio went dead. Nora hugged Asa and told him he was heading home. Lindsay wondered to Renee about Nora being pregnant. Renee told her to stay out of it. Lindsay told Renee that she thought it was wonderful; after all, her children were the greatest joy of her life. Clint asked Nora when she'd found out she was pregnant. Before she could answer, Asa told him to alert the Coast Guard. When Asa and Nora were alone, Asa told her he knew she was lying.

Sam showed up at Max's, looking for Blair. Max told him she didn't want to see him. Sam pushed his way in and told Max he'd like to hear that from Blair. When Sam went in, he saw candles lit and the scene set for a romantic encounter. He left. Blair walked downstairs and asked Max who had been at the door, and he told her it had been someone selling magazine subscriptions.

Rod/Todd was looking for something to break off his ankle bracelet with. Viki was catching up with Jessica and Cristian, and Cristian told her that Jessica hadn't been taking good care of herself while Viki had been gone. Cristian walked away, and Viki told Jessica she was glad that Jessica had forgiven Cristian. Jessica admitted that people made mistakes sometimes.

Roseanne wondered to Will if she and Cristian could ever be good friends like him and Jessica. Will said they should think about themselves, not Cristian and Jessica. Roseanne said as soon as Will went to New York, he'd forget about her. Will promised her he'd never forget about her. Just then, Téa took out a cake, and Todd made a wish and blew out the candles. Viki told him she hoped all his wishes happened. Rod said knowingly that they would.

Nora insisted she was not lying. Asa showed her the report from the hospital. Nora was outraged that Asa would steal her mail. "What have I done?" she said. She said the results could be wrong. She wouldn't tell Bo the truth because that was what was getting him home. Meanwhile, on the boat, Bo was clearly very ill and delirious. He collapsed on the floor, but a vision of a pregnant Nora calling to him helped him awaken. He got up and vowed to get home. Back at Asa's, Nora wanted to leave and be alone. Lindsay tried to stop her to tell her something. Nora wouldn't listen and walked out.

Will asked Jessica how she was feeling. She snapped at him. She was sick of everyone asking her how she was. Will asked about her and Cristian. She told him things were great. Will said that was good because he didn't want what had happened between them to break her and Cristian up. Jessica didn't want to talk about it. Téa told Viki she was not sure she could imagine a future with Todd, and Viki said she also thought it was hard for Todd to imagine a future without her.

Max and Blair were kissing on the couch. Max stopped her and said, "I'm not the man you are in love with, am I?" Blair said she wanted to be, but she was just not the same person anymore. Max wanted to know how he could prove his love to her. He knew, he said. He gave her the tape. No strings attached, he told her. It was his heart, he told her; she could do whatever she wanted with it. He didn't want her if he was holding something over her; that was why he was giving it to her.

Sam was pacing around his house, clearly thinking about Blair. He picked up the phone then threw it on the floor. He dumped his briefcase out on the floor.

Rod told Viki he hoped she was never disappointed in him. Viki told him she doubted that would happen. Jessica apologized for snapping at Cristian. Cristian thought she should see a doctor; Jessica said no because then her mom would worry too much about her. He wondered if she was still upset about him kissing Roseanne. He would never want to hurt her. Jessica said she would never want to hurt him either.

Cristian told Jessica he'd submitted his painting to the art school. Jessica was excited; they'd celebrate the next day -- she'd feel better then, she promised him. They left. Roseanne and Will decided to go dancing, but first Roseanne wanted to burn the voodoo doll. Will was proud of her.

Téa and Todd were alone. She gave him a gift, a bird sculpture, a symbol of his freedom, she told him. He worried that he'd have no more freedom. Téa assured him that he would and told him to trust her, and she left the room. Todd said, "Oh, yeah, there'll be more freedom, but no, I don't trust you." When Téa returned, Todd, of course, was gone, and only his ankle bracelet was left.

Viki stopped to pay a condolence call, and they all worried about Bo and discussed how they would never stop worrying about their children. Viki asked Clint if he'd noticed anything different about Jessica. Clint said she was probably just worried about going to New York. Clint said it was ironic that Bo was rushing back to do more worrying. Asa tried to stop him from saying any more. Viki asked what he was talking about, and he told her Nora was pregnant.

Sam was sitting on the couch when there was a knock at the door. It was Nora. She needed him. She'd really done it this time, she told him. He ushered her in and closed the door as Lindsay spied on them with a smug look on her face.

At Llanview Hospital, Cassie wondered where her mother was. She had not been able to track her down. Kevin believed that Dorian was innocent, too, and he promised he would use the Banner to find out who had set her up and who had really killed Drew. He just wanted Cassie to focus on getting better. He vowed he was there for the long haul. Viki arrived and kissed Cassie, asking how she was. She thanked God that the two of them were all right, and of course, she was horrified about what had happened to Drew.

In the waiting area, Kelly and Blair discussed the "Bo Steals Stiff" headline. Blair told her cousin she had not written it, and Kelly accused her of not taking responsibility for her actions. Blair replied that she should stop judging her. She had been hurt, her life was complicated, and she was hurt Kelly thought she was capable of doing something like that. Kelly sounded bitter and cynical as she explained that she didn't think Aunt Dorian was capable of murder either.

At Asa's house, Renee said that the Coast Guard had contacted them, and they were about to rescue Bo. Clint wondered if Renee had seen Lindsay. Renee replied that Lindsay had not gotten home yet. "Where the devil can that woman be?" Clint said aloud.

Sam was furious about the headline Blair had supposedly written. He told Nora how he wanted to give Blair a chance to explain, and he went over to Max's. He felt Nora could draw her own picture. Nora was certainly no fan of Blair's, but right then, she was the last to judge her. She was in the worst kind of trouble, the kind where she had to lie to the person she loved most in the world. In other words, she'd lied to Bo about being pregnant because it had been the only way to convince him he had something to live for.

Sam got it that nothing could replace the child Bo had lost except for another child. Perhaps Nora could make the big lie true. He said he thought the tests for fertility were favorable to her. Nora explained that they were good for her, but for Bo, not so much. She just didn't know what to say when he returned home. She wondered how she could dash his hopes.

Lindsay had been eavesdropping outside, hanging on every word. She lost her balance and tripped over a potted plant, breaking off part of the terra cotta. Sam heard the sound and stepped outside. He did not see Lindsay, but he did find a shard of pottery.

At the hospital, Blair wanted to know what Kelly knew about Dorian that she did not. Kelly got a little loud, and Blair said they should keep their voices down for Cassie's sake.

In Cassie's room, Viki was glad to see Cassie was making progress. She looked so well that Viki thought maybe she should send over a laptop from the Banner and give Cassie something to write. Kevin thought it was a great idea and asked Viki to let Cassie help him with an assignment. Dr. Lang appeared and said that he had to take another test but promised Cassie it would be the last one for a while.

Viki and Kevin stepped out into the corridor. All Viki could think about was how it could have been Kevin. All the arguments they'd had were unimportant. "Even Todd?" Kevin asked. "Yes, even Todd," his mother replied. Kevin was sorry that Viki had had to go on that trip with hard feelings between them, and as for Todd, he was in the hands of the justice system. His trial was set to start the following day.

Todd listened as a bus to San Diego was announced and hoped Delgado didn't disappoint him. Soon, Téa arrived. In Rod's voice and accent, he told her that she was very smart to find him. He was not happy to see that she had the monitor in her hands. She should have left it in the penthouse. He had to leave Llanview. He couldn't lose the trial. Téa replied that he was just panicking. Rod did not want to go back. There were other ways to have a life.

Rod had bus tickets. He asked her to go with him to San Diego. Téa reminded him she had run away with him before to Niagara Falls -- it had not worked then, and it wouldn't this time. He was a wanted man. Rod wanted to know if she'd called Sam like the last time. Téa said she hadn't, but Rod had to trust her and Sam. Rod was not in trouble yet. Sam had gotten him special dispensation from the police to stay out until midnight because of the party. He could get back to the penthouse before the bells and sirens went off.

To Todd -- or Rod -- it was all very simple. They would go to San Diego and cross over into Mexico -- paradise -- beaches, mountains, rain forests. Téa, although tempted, said she would go -- sometime, but not then. Todd persisted that he was not going back.

Téa was confident that the charges would be dropped then Todd could have his personalities integrated. All would be well. In Rod's voice, Todd asked if Téa did not like Todd. Rod wanted to be the man she could love and be with all her life then his voice changed momentarily. It was in Todd's voice that he said, "Would you go with Todd? Would you run away with me?"

At the hospital, Kevin asked Viki if she was ready to put her dancing shoes on for his spring wedding with Cassie. Viki was very happy for them. Kevin assured her that Cassie was his deepest and last concern. He was thankful that Viki had let her know her job was waiting for her. Viki offered Kevin back his associate editor's job. Kevin was happy that he would have the resources to find the person who had done that to Cassie and admitted he needed the position to keep his sanity. Clint and Renee arrived and told them that the Buchanan helicopter had been sent out to pick up Bo.

Dr. Lang asked to speak to Kevin about Cassie, and Blair and Kelly went in to see their cousin. Lang explained that Dorian was not available, and Cassie had given permission for him to be treated as next of kin. Dr. Lang had some results of Cassie's tests.

At his house, Sam showed Nora the shard of terra cotta and said it had to be varmints. He asked Nora what she had decided to tell Bo. Nora wanted to know why, if the truth was so good, that it seemed so hard to tell it. Sam said they were both straight shooters. Nora replied that was either their curse or their saving grace. Bo was not ready to hear that just yet. Sam told her to get a grip -- Bo was returning home to her, baby or no baby. Nora said she loved Bo "so much," and Sam offered to drive her home.

At the bus station, Téa caught the difference in Rod's voice and wondered for a moment if Todd was out. Todd lied and said no, but he felt like a new person. He took her hand, put it to his face and said, "See the scar is familiar. It is the face of the man who hurt you that you see. Could you trust my face"?

Téa began to cry. "I wanted to trust Todd, but trust is a two-way street. Todd wouldn't allow me to love him. I am standing now with a man I could have a life with. But you are not who I thought Todd was. You are gentle, you teach me about opera," Téa said. "Buono," Todd replied, using Todd's voice again, "we can be free, Téa. Come with Me!"

Todd and Téa kissed passionately. Téa vowed that she would do the right thing and work on his defense with Sam for the future they both wanted. She cautioned him to show up before midnight before the alarm went off at the police station. They kissed again, a little lighter. She left, and Todd listened to the all aboard announcement for the bus to San Diego.

Blair talked about Cassie's future wedding but then realized from the fish eyes Kelly was giving her that it was the wrong subject for her twice-engaged, twice-bereaved cousin. She apologized. Cassie asked about Sam, but Blair said there was not much chance of her marrying him. Kelly told Cassie it was due to the headline in the Sun. Blair had ridiculed Bo. Blair tried to say it was not her fault. Kelly replied that was like saying World War II was not Hitler's fault. As far as Kelly was concerned, Blair should go back to Max because they deserved each other.

Meanwhile, Kevin had gotten the bad news that Cassie was paralyzed. Her legs would not move. He told Dr. Lang's prognosis to Clint and Viki. Viki comforted Kevin with a hug. Lang said that the condition would not respond to surgery. Kevin worried about how to tell Cassie. She had been through a lot. He wanted her to rest a little. Clint informed Lang he wanted a second opinion. Lang was willing to consult with anyone, but he would be remiss not to caution them they shouldn't get their hopes up.

At Asa's house, Renee noticed the scratches on Lindsay's arm and asked how she'd gotten them. Lindsay replied it had been on some rose bushes on the terrace. Renee was not deceived. There were no roses on the terrace. She asked where Lindsay had been. Clint had been looking for her.

At her and Bo's house, Nora told Sam it was best if he was not there when Bo returned. Just then, Bo stumbled through the door, unshaven, shaky, and with a graveyard cough. Nora felt his head and said he had a fever. He looked awful. Bo said that he had not waited to be rescued. He had returned home under his own power.

Bo thanked Sam for keeping an eye on Nora. Sam said that Bo was one lucky guy and left. Bo wanted to hear all about the baby and when she'd first known. He wanted all the details. Nora replied that he had to get out of all those wet clothes. He looked like he was about to faint.

Lindsay told Renee she had been out looking for Nora and had found Nora getting the comfort Lindsay could not provide for her. Nora had gone straight to Sam. She asked if that was troubling to Renee. After all, she had both of them, or at least she had Renee. Telling Bo she was pregnant when she wasn't was that the kind of thing Nora should confide to a female. She was sure Sam was more than a friend to Nora.

Renee asked what difference that made to Lindsay. Sam's ex replied that it was a fertility problem, and Nora had gone to Sam. Renee had heard enough. Obviously, Lindsay's vanity couldn't take the fact that Sam cared about Nora. Lindsay had made a pledge to a new husband, and if she was not careful, she would lose him. Renee only cared as far as it would hurt Clint. Lindsay noted that the gloves were off.

Renee arched her eyebrow in her knowing ex-madam way and informed Lindsay that she had been around the block a time or two. Lindsay replied that she had, too, and she knew what Renee said behind her back. Renee gave her fair warning not to try to put one over on her or Asa, or they would not stand by while she made a fool of Clint. Lindsay said she understood and walked away in a huff.

Blair left Cassie's hospital room and headed for the elevator. Sam was inside when the doors opened. He had stopped by for medical files on Todd. He asked about Cassie, and Blair answered that her cousin was as well as could be expected. He admitted he was angry about the headline. She'd tried to call him, Blair said. He admitted his phone had been off the hook. Blair decided that they had nothing to discuss and marched out of the elevator at its next stop.

At the bus stop, Todd stared at the tickets then looked up to see a happy young couple kissing and heading toward the awaiting bus with great expectations. He had a pensive look on his face.

Bo told Nora he'd caught a cold in the storm, but he was fine. Nora scolded him not to do that again. His losses were her losses, too. Bo said that was what he was afraid of. He didn't want to take her down with him. He described Drew and how he had been with Bo to say goodbye. Bo had scattered his ashes in the water, and Drew had been gone like a shooting star.

Drew could have decided to not return to Llanview. He'd had such a short life because he had gone back. But Bo had learned an important lesson from it. He wanted to be with the new baby every second and give him all he had not given Drew. Bo was coughing so badly, he was bent over.

At Asa's house, Clint asked Lindsay what had happened to her hand, and she lied more plausibly. She'd tangled with a rose in the East Garden. She had cut some for the bedside table. Sam arrived home, and Téa arrived. She told him the whole story about Todd ripping off the monitor and deciding to head for California. He was about to rush out for the bus station.

Téa said to wait; she trusted Todd to show up on his own. Sam admitted his faith in human nature was shaky that night. It was midnight. The phone rang, and Sam was right that it was the police looking for Todd. The bell rang, and Téa opened the door. Sam told the police that Todd was with him at that moment, going over his case. Sam asked if the officer wanted to hear his voice. "Buona notte, this is Rod," Todd said. Sam took the phone back and told the officer that it had been an oversight on his part, and he would have Todd back home by one.

At the hospital, Viki asked Kevin what she could do. Kevin said to go home before the jet lag ambushed her. He told his mother he would tell Cassie the next day. For the moment, he had to put on a happy face.

Kevin walked in on Cassie telling Kelly that they all needed to love and be loved back. Kevin started to recite Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "How do I love thee, let me count the ways." She added a few lines. Kevin said he was rusty and stalled several times, trying to recite the words. Suddenly, Cassie began to understand that something was wrong. Lang had told him something. She guessed that she was not going to walk again. Kevin hugged her tightly.

Thursday, October 8, 1998

At the hospital, Cassie and Kevin discussed Cassie's paralysis. Cassie offered to give Kevin his ring back because, in her words, she was not the woman he'd asked to marry him. Not only could she not have kids, but she could not walk either. Kevin told her he hadn't fallen in love with her because she could walk, and he asked her if she loved David any less because he had Lou Gehrig's disease.

A tearful Cassie reflected on that, and Kevin pledged his love and really seemed to be making an effort to make things right again. Kelly stopped by to visit, and she and Cassie discussed and disagreed about Dorian's involvement with the shooting. Cassie told Kelly that she didn't believe her mother had hired R.J. to kill Kevin.

Mel stopped by the rectory, wearing a disguise to elude reporters and police. He told Dorian that he was going to make some contacts to get her and R.J. out of town. A skeptical R.J. said that he didn't trust Mel. Mel told them his theory that Graham and Sykes were in cahoots and covering up something big. Until he was able to break the story, he wanted Dorian and R.J. out of town. Dorian said she was not leaving until she saw Cassie. Mel told her that the hospital was teeming with police. Andrew thought up an idea to sneak her in.

Nora paced around the lobby outside Bo's hospital room. Sam stopped by and lent an always available shoulder. Then Dr. Larry Wolek walked out of Bo's room. He told Nora that Bo had a severe case of pneumonia; he was on antibiotics, and he was fighting. He was in and out, but when he was in, all he talked about was the baby.

Nora got a guilt-stricken look upon her face when Larry mentioned the baby. Nora went in to see Bo and told him how much she loved him. He went on about how he'd made it back through the hurricane because he'd wanted to take care of her and the baby. Nora grew teary-eyed. Bo mistook the tears of guilt for hormones of pregnancy. Nora tried to tell him how while he had been gone, she would have done anything to get him home. "Anything" was the buildup to the fake pregnancy story confession.

However, before Nora could confess, Hank walked in and said a few words to Bo. He left, and Nora started her confession all over again. She got it all out, but Bo was out and didn't hear any of it.

Sam practiced his opening statement for the jury. Will entered the courtroom and encouraged him. They discussed Todd and what a wonderful dad Sam was. Will told Sam that he knew if he ever screwed up, Sam would always be there for him.

At the hospital, Cassie sent Kevin off to buy her a book from the gift shop. While he was gone, Andrew wheeled David into the lobby. A nurse stood nearby, and Andrew said to David, "I hope it's not serious." After he said that, David keeled over. Andrew called for the nurse and told her to get a doctor. When the nurse left, Andrew motioned for Mel and Dorian. The two, in hospital gear, entered Cassie's room.

Cassie was surprised and happy to see her mom. Dorian explained that she'd had nothing to do with the shooting and confessed that she had only hired R.J. to follow Kevin to see if he was still cheating. Cassie believed her. Mel told Cassie of his plan to get Dorian and R.J. out of town while he investigated what Sykes and Graham were hiding.

Dorian was hesitant to leave; if Cassie wanted her to stay in town, she would, no matter what Sykes did. Cassie didn't tell her mother that she was paralyzed and convinced Dorian to leave town. As they were sneaking out, Barbara spotted Dorian getting onto the elevator. With an evil smile on her face, she shouted to the policeman and pointed to Dorian, but it was too late to catch her.

Sykes told Barbara to confess while he could still help her. She told him she had no idea what he was talking about. He reminded her about the gun and her history of retaliating against men who didn't love her back. She told him that Joey loved her just the way she was, unlike Sykes, who had cut and run as soon as he'd found out she had a few problems.

Sykes told Barbara that he had loved her, and he still cared and wanted to help her. He tried to appeal to her by telling her he knew she hadn't meant to hurt Cassie or kill Drew. She said sometimes people got what they deserved. He asked her if Drew had deserved to die.

At the rectory, Dorian was saying her goodbyes to Mel while R.J. was urging her to hurry up. He gave Mel a letter to pass on to Hank, and just as they were about to leave, Sykes arrived with the police. However, when they burst into the room where Dorian and R.J. had been, all they found was Mel sitting there, typing on his computer.

Friday, October 9, 1998

At the courthouse, Sam and Will shared a father and son moment. Will planned to be there and observe his dad in action during Todd's trial. Sam left. Will pretended that he was a lawyer and handling his first case. As he was talking to his pretend jurors, Roseanne walked in clapping.

At the diner, Carlotta tried to comfort Téa. Téa was concerned about Todd with the trial being that afternoon. The family was also waiting to hear from the scholarship board from New York. Viki and Jessie arrived to support Cristian while he was waiting for the call.

At Asa's, Max was talking to Renee. He was torn at the decision he'd made the night before. He had decided that he wanted her back. Renee agreed to help even though she did not think that Blair was the right woman for Max. Her advice to Max was not to interfere with Blair and Sam.

At the penthouse, Todd was practicing his many alters when Blair entered. She confronted Todd. She had the tape, and she wanted more than just the Sun. She wanted revenge for Todd destroying what she could have had with Sam. She told Todd that she had all the power.

Back at the courthouse, Will had Roseanne on the witness stand. He asked her about the men in her life. Information on an unknown man in Roseanne's past upset her. Will apologized. Roseanne wanted to cross-examine Will.

Back at the penthouse, Blair told Todd that she would get her revenge. As she was about to leave, Starr ran down the steps, crying, "Mommy and Daddy, can we have a tea party?"

Max visited Sam at his house. Max gloated that he had Blair. Sam asked why, if Max was so confident in Blair's affections, he was there. Max responded by telling Sam that he'd slept with Blair just the night before, and it had been as if they had never been separated. He then warned Sam to stay away from what was his. Sam threatened that if Max hurt Blair, he would tear out Max's heart.

Back at the courthouse, Roseanne asked Will about the women of his past. He told her that he'd had a few but that he wished that he was a virgin, for her. Smiling, Roseanne then requested details.

At the diner, Jessica's stomach started to bother her. Hank entered and made an anti-Todd comment to Téa. Before Téa could respond, Viki interrupted. She asked Hank to have an open mind where Todd was concerned. Hank was still convinced that Todd was faking. Viki then stated her belief that R.J. was innocent. She was concerned that Kevin might have been the intended victim, and if that was the case, the killer would try again.

Andrew entered the group and asked about Bo and Cassie. Hank responded that Bo still had a very high fever, and the hospital was not giving out much information. Andrew privately gave Hank a letter from R.J., asking him not to read it until he was alone. Jessica and Viki had a mother and daughter chat.

Back at the penthouse, Todd and Blair were having a very uncomfortable tea party with Starr. Starr told her dad that she did not want him to ever go away again. She wanted him to promise that he would stay. Todd told Starr that he could not promise that. He might have to go away. He told her to ask her mother to explain why he had to leave. Blair told Starr that even if Daddy had to go away for a while, there would still be many people that loved her.

Todd asked Starr to go upstairs to get Mrs. Prickles, the doll. Blair was very angry with Todd for putting her in that situation. Todd apologized to Blair. He offered to make amends. He would try to get Sam back for her. Starr walked back down the stairs, and there was a knock on the door. It was Sam. Blair tried to talk to Sam. However, he told her that he could not focus on anything other than Todd's trial.

Back at the diner, Roseanne and Will arrived to be with Cristian. The telephone rang. Cristian got bad news. Although it was one of the best paintings that the scholarship board had seen, it had arrived too late. Cristian was advised to reapply the next year. Roseanne looked away, feeling responsible.

Outside the penthouse, Blair met Max. The two went to the courthouse together. Inside the penthouse, Téa arrived. Todd walked down the stairs, carrying Starr. He was not dressed in his suit. In one of his alter voices, he cried that he needed to talk to Blair. He couldn't go to trial that day.
