Emily in Paris is a romantic comedy show directed by Darren Star, available on Netflix. Season 4 of the show was recently released on August 15, 2024. Alfred Peterson aka Alfie is introduced as a British banker who meets Emily in her French class. Over time, they developed feelings for each other and started dating. At the end of Season 3, at Gabriel and Camille’s wedding, Camille calls off her wedding as Gabriel still has feelings for Emily. Hearing this, Alfie walks off from the wedding as he doesn't want to be someone’s second choice.
In episode 1 of Season 4, Alfie doesn’t talk to Emily for a while to process the incident. He learns that he has to do the Ami Paris launch campaign at the French Open with Emily. At first, he refuses to do the campaign but when they meet at the gym, Emily apologizes to him. Alfie confronts Gabriel about the wedding incident and Gabriel tells him to get back with Emily as he will not get in the way of their relationship, as what he feels about her doesn't matter.
Eventually, Alfie goes to the French Open for the campaign and breaks up with Emily as they are better off as friends. After their breakup, they worked together for a masquerade ball for Maison Lavaux's new fragrance launch. In the process, he realizes that he still has feelings for her. But, he gets heartbroken as he sees Emily and Gabriel leaving together from the ball. The last time he meets Emily, he shares that he took some time for himself to get over his heartbreak. In the process, he fell in love with Paris and now has a girlfriend.

Will Alfie be in Season 5 of Emily in Paris?
The way Alfie’s character was last seen in the 4th season leaves the audience wondering whether he will appear in Season 5. In an interview with Glamour, creator Darren Star was asked whether Alfie will appear in the next season and who his new girlfriend is. Star replied, “Yes, definitely. Yeah, we definitely will want to see Alfie next season. And I think there’s still a question mark [about] who he’s dating. We don’t know who this person is yet, so absolutely. We’ll discover next season. Absolutely, yes, like who this is. There are some thoughts.”
In an interview with Capital Breakfast, Lucien Laviscount shared that his role was supposed to be of 2 episodes in Season 2 but the makers extended his role by making changes in the script. In an interview with Glamour, he was asked if he wanted to return for season five or not. He shared that Emily in Paris changed his life in many ways and that it was a dream come true for him to work with such talented people. It will be an honor for him to come back on the show. Fans will have to wait for Season 5 to find out whether Alfie comes back or not.
