Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann created The Last of Us, an American post-apocalyptic drama television series that premiered in January 2023. The show is based on Naughty Dog's 2013 video game The Last of Us, and it follows Joel and Ellie in a world where a mass fungal infection transforms its hosts into zombie-like creatures. When the series premiered, it quickly became a critical and fan favorite, winning eight Primetime Emmy Awards out of 24 nominations. Not only that, but it became HBO's most-watched debut season by the time the final episode of season 1 aired, and season 2 will premiere in April 2025.

Bill was a supporting character who was a survivalist and isolated himself from the world even before the events of The Last of Us took place. Not only that, he even believed that the world would eventually end and prepared for that possibility by building a bunker and he also fortified his house. His theory that civilization would collapse eventually came true with the outbreak and soon the people in the town he lived in left with FEDRA, and Bill had the entire town to himself.
He continued to live as a survivalist and isolated himself from the rest of the world, further fortifying the town he lived in with traps, electric fences, and more. However, four years after the outbreak, Bill met Frank in HBO’s The Last of US and while he initially intended to send him on his way, Frank ended up staying and the two fell in love. They began a relationship soon after and lived together for over fifteen years, meeting Joel and Tess along the way and creating a trade route, before passing away in 2023.

Bill is portrayed by Nicholas David Offerman, better known as Nick Offerman, in HBO’s The Last of Us series. The American actor made his debut in 1994 in the video game Club Dead but he is best known for his role as Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation. For his role in the NBC series, he received the Television Critics Association Award. Beyond Parks and Recreation, Swanson has also had roles in Fargo, Pam and Tommy, George Lopez, Children's Hospital, Bob’s Burgers, and several other shows.
