Who saved Jayce’s mom in Arcane​?

Created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, Arcane: League of Legends, better known as Arcane, is a steampunk action-adventure television series that premiered in November 2021. The show revolves around sisters Violet (Vi) and Powder (Jinx) as they become tangled in a conflict between Zaun and the city of Piltover. The series was first announced in 2019 during the League of Legends 10th anniversary and has been met with critical acclaim for its visuals, worldbuilding, writing, and more. Season 2 was released in November 2024 and also earned similar acclaim.

Who saved Jayce's mom in Arcane?

In season 1 of Arcane, Jayce and his mother are seen traveling through a storm, and at the end, they meet a mysterious and strange hooded figure. The figure, carrying a staff, then proceeds to use magic to send Jayce and his mother to a safe place. Not only that, he also gives the young Jayce a piece of the magic stone, kicking off his interest in magic.

Thus began the start of legends across the interweb with many fans wondering who the mysterious stranger was that saved Jayce and his mother. Several had theories, and fans had to wait three years until season 2 was released before they got their answers in the series finale. In the episode, The Dirt Under Your Nails, it was revealed that the person who saved Jayce and his mother was Viktor from the future timeline. As per the series, Viktor got exactly what he wanted, but that didn’t bring peace to the world, and thus, he used his powers to travel to different timelines.

He did that in order to prepare Jayce to save the world in the process as he couldn’t face himself in each timeline due to the limitations of time travel, and thus he picked Jayce to carry out his mission.

Who is Victor?

Initially known as The Mage, after that version of him was introduced in episode 2 of season 1, Viktor is a main character of Arcane and is considered to be a brilliant inventor. The Mage, however, is Viktor from another timeline, who uses Jayce to save the world due to the limitations of time travel. He has the same powers and abilities as Viktor and reached his goals in the main timeline, but it didn’t lead to peace.

His primary goal is to improve human life through technological advancements, which was driven by his working-class background in Zaun. He and Jayce work together over the course of the series, and he is considered to be Jayce’s partner, but he is gravely wounded after Jinx’s attack at the end of season 1. He is saved by Jayce and transforms his body into something more than just organic material. He is eventually transformed in the process of his Glorious Evolution, although Jayce helps him stop things and return to normal.
