Kate Collins: A Brief Biography
At A Glance
Born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Washington D.C., Kate Collins is the eldest child of astronaut Michael Collins, who served as Command Module Pilot on the historic Apollo 11 mission (the first Moon landing) in 1969.
Kate married husband Charles Newell, who is the Artistic Director of the Court Theatre in Chicago, in October 1992. The couple have two sons together and live in Hyde Park, Chicago.
